RTX-Clusive: Kacey Musgraves Talks Lady Antebellum Tour, Debut Album + More [AUDIO]
Oh, Kacey Musgraves — what a year it’s been for this native East Texan. She ended 2011 having cuts on both Martina McBride’s and Miranda Lambert’s latest albums — the latter “Mama’s Broke Heart” was named one of Rolling Stones “Top 50 Singles of 2011.” But that honor was just a hint of what 2012 would have in store for Musgraves.
She began the year slated as John Mayer’s exclusive opening act for his Spring U.S. Tour (the tour was later cancelled due to Mayer’s health problems.) In February she made her debut at The Ryman in Nashville, and her set concluded with a standing ovation from the audience.
In March she was named to MSN Music’s Class of 2012: New Artists to Watch. And earlier this month, Kelly Clarkson sang her song “Mama’s Broken Heart” on the ABC show “Duets” to an audience of millions.
