Movie Theater Shooting: Suspect Said He Was ‘The Joker’

KMGH

James Holmes, the 24-year-old who surrendered to police after killing 12 and injuring dozens more at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colo., early this morning, told police he was “The Joker” when he was arrested.

According to reports from ABC News and TMZ, Holmes had his hair painted red and told them he was The Joker — an arch-enemy of Batman.

During a news conference today, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, said:

We have some information, most of it is public. It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the enemy of Batman.”

TMZ and others are speculating Holmes was trying to recreate a scene from “The Dark Knight” when the late Heath Ledger, playing the joker, went on a murder rampage at a hospital in the 2008 movie, seen below.
