James Holmes, donning orange hair, appeared dazed and eyes drooping as he sat quietly with his court appointed attorney during an initial hearing today in a Colorado courtroom.

The judge advised the 24-year-old alleged shooter of the case, and set an arraignment hearing for July 30th at 9:30 a.m. when he will be formally charged in last Fridays shooting at an Aurora Movie Theater that claimed 12 lives and wounded 58 people.

Authorities say the former graduate student is refusing to cooperate and it could take months to learn what prompted the horrific attack on moviegoers at a midnight screening of the latest Batman film.

Investigators say they found a Batman mask inside Holmes' booby-trapped apartment after the attack.

Holmes has been held in solitary confinement since Friday. Prosecutors say they may consider the death penalty but will make that decision after consulting with victim's families.
