Disney+ announced that it will be premiering the Broadway Musical 'Hamilton' starting July 3rd.

2020 has been rough so far here in Michigan. The Coronavirus pandemic, floods, civil unrest, racial injustices, and a news cycle that just won't stop. It can feel like good news is hard to come by, so I'm going to latch on to the Hamilton announcement.

With movie theaters closed, and Broadway shut down since March, the entertainment industry has had to rethink how they do everything. Luckily that process has lead to Hamilton coming directly into our homes. This isn't some made for tv version either, this is the actual stage version starring Lin-Manuel Miranda. So far the reviews from the cast have been praising the way the director kept the live stage feel. Miranda gave a statement about the upcoming release.

He’s given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house. I’m so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for reimagining and moving up our release to July 4 weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down. I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it

Obviously there is no way to completely recreate the feeling that you get when you see a live stage show, but when it comes to a show like Hamilton, I'll take what I can get. If you think I sound a little fan boy-ish you should think about how hard it was to actually get tickets to see Hamilton. The show was indefinitely sold out on Broadway, and the off Broadway shows held lottery drawings to have  people buy tickets.

I'm just excited that I don't have to skip a house payment to be able to see the show with my whole family.

While I was looking things up I found this video where Miranda is at the white house performing, and he gives everyone a sneak peak of Hamilton. Everyone in the room thinks its a joke at first, but by the end of the song, I think everyone knows that he was serious, and it was going to be amazing.
