Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters this week, though you wouldn’t necessarily know it unless you’ve been keeping a close eye on this month’s new releases. Fox has no plans to screen the film for press in advance, so if you’re waiting to read some reviews before committing to see the sequel this weekend, you can go ahead and stop now. But the studio is still hoping to lure audiences in even without some positive early buzz, mostly via fun viral videos like these.

Fans of Emmerich’s original sci-fi blockbuster might be a little confused about the reappearance of Dr. Brackish Okun, played by Brent Spiner. In the first film, Dr. Okun was presumed dead after an encounter with an alien, but a new video explains how he was able to return for Resurgence — which will hopefully save us a little exposition so we can spend more time watching aliens blow up famous landmarks.

The second video (below) is a fake tourist ad for Las Vegas, which was memorably destroyed during the events of Independence Day. Now that the city is in ruins, it’s become an even bigger tourist trap, as you can see in this darkly satirical video:

Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters on June 24.
