Meet the Man Who Has Written Four No.1 Country Songs in the Past Year
Sometimes in country music, the person singing a hit song isn't the one who wrote it.
That's true for at least four of the No. 1 songs from the past 12 months, and we want you to meet the man behind the pen.
Taylor Phillips is responsible for a whopping ten No. 1 country songs in his songwriting career.
But in the last twelve months alone, Phillips has been on one heck of a redneck roll, notching four chart-topping songs.
Phillips' four No. 1 songs in the last 12 months are ...
Nate Smith's "Fix What You Didn't Break"
Dylan Scott's "This Town's Been Too Good to Us"
Jelly Roll's "I Am Not Okay"
Jelly Roll's "Liar"
His other six lifetime No. 1s were massive career songs for the artists who sang them, including ...
Nate Smith's "World on Fire"
Morgan Wallen's "Thinkin' 'Bout Me"
Kane Brown's "Like I Love Country Music"
Kane Brown's "Homesick"
Kane Brown's "Good as You"
Luke Combs' "Hurricane"
Who Is Taylor Phillips?
Phillips has written more than 100 songs since moving to Nashville from North Carolina back in 2013.

He went from being a new kid in town, trying to secure a song-write that an artist would record, to being one of the most sought-after writers in Nashville today.
Phillips has been signed to Tape Room Music since 2020 and continues to dominate the charts behind-the-scenes. Per Music Row, he's got another with his name on it that is currently climbing the chart: Chris Janson's "Me & A Beer."
Does Jelly Roll Still Write His Own Music?
Yes. Jelly Roll writes the majority of his own songs, but likes to seek out tracks written by others to create variety and not pigeonhole himself into one sound.
