Powerball – Texas Lottery Confirms Lone Star Wins on Wednesday
Think back with me to July 3rd of this year. Folks around Beaumont, Orange, and Vidor were preparing for a big July 4th celebration. The folks in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio were complaining about all the heat in the midst of all that concrete, and somewhere out there, okay it was Ohio, someone purchased a Powerball Lottery ticket that was a jackpot winner.
That's how long it's been since the Powerball multi-state lottery game produced a jackpot winner. The prize on that night was $139.3 million. Last night, the Powerball drawing was held for a jackpot that was estimated to be $184.7 million.
Here's what that drawing looked like as it happened.
The numbers that we watched roll out of the hopper and into play were:
06 19 35 47 57 Powerball 09 Power Play x3
Use those numbers for reference but please verify your tickets at either the Official Powerball Website or the Official Texas Lottery Website. Those sites can confirm your prize winnings and offer information on the procedure you'll have to follow to claim your winnings.
Texas Powerball Winners Wednesday Night
There was no jackpot winner in Wednesday's (08/07/24) drawing. There was a Match 5 Million winner that was sold in Iowa. That ticket matched all five of the white balls but missed on the Powerball. Other than the Iowa ticket the largest prizes for last night's Powerball were sold in Texas.
The Texas Lottery has confirmed there were two tickets sold in the Lone Star State for Wednesday night's drawing that earned a prize of $150,000. There were also three other tickets sold that earned prizes of $50,000. In essence, all five of the big-money winners matched the same prize scenario. They all matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball.
The $150,000 winners opted for the Power Play and that's why their winnings are three times the winnings of the other tickets. There was also no big winner in Lotto Texas with Extra! last night. However, there were two tickets sold that earned a prize of $11,394.
Texas Next Chance to be a Millionaire
It happens on Friday night when the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game is played. That game has a current estimated top prize of $398 million for the annuitized amount. The lump sum payout is calculated at $197.9 million on Friday.
Powerball's jackpot will rise to an estimated $201 million on Saturday night. The lump sum payout for a win in that game is estimated to be $100 million. Meanwhile Lotto Texas with Extra! will draw for a top prize of $10.5 million on Saturday night.
Please note most lottery tickets purchased are not winners. People can and do lose money when they play the lottery. If you play the lottery you could lose money too. So, play with money that you can afford to lose. If you have a gambling problem help is available. Call 1-800-GAMBLER. The call and the referrals are free. Good Luck.
