Josh Thompson Shares the Stage With Soldier Contest Winner [Watch]
Josh Thompson is showing his support for the troops in exciting new ways. The 'Turn It Up' singer recently shared the stage with a fan to sing one of his songs -- and that fan just so happened to also be in the United States Army.
Surrounding the release of his new album 'Turn It Up,' Thompson held a contest for fans to submit 15-second clips of themselves singing a cover of one of his songs on Instagram. The prize? The chance to share the stage and perform a song with Thompson at one of the stops on his tour. The winner? Evan Masters, a soldier in the Minnesota Army National Guard. It was certainly a night to remember.
In the video posted on Thompson's official YouTube page, the 'Wanted Me Gone' singer introduces Masters to the crowd amidst raucous cheer, adding, "He would like to dedicate a song to all the country ladies out there." It was a hearty duet of Thompson's hit 'You Ain't Seen Country Yet' and Masters certainly held his own, pacing the stage and interacting with the crowd.
After a multitude of entries, Thompson himself chose the winner and offered Masters his pick of shows for his debut performance. Masters picked Thompson's concert at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Denver, Colo. and to his surprise, some of the the soldier's hometown friends flew in from Minnesota to show their support. And to make a great night even better, Masters and his friends spent some quality party time with Thompson and his band on his bus after the show. How's that for a pretty awesome weekend?
Fans can catch more of Thompson on the road, as he travels in support of his second studio album, 'Turn It Up,' through October. Visit his official website for more details.
