Starting July 1, new Texas car buyers will leave the lot with permanent metal plates instead of paper tags—part of a fraud-fighting law change.

Those temporary paper tags on Texas vehicles will soon be a thing of the past.

Next year when you purchase a new car you'll be issued metal plates and not the paper tags.
