More people are indeed moving to Austin, TX, and Houston, TX, than leaving, but people do leave. Have you ever wondered where they go when they do? I did.

Living in Texas is special. While in some cities you will have to battle traffic congestion more than you'd like, that is balanced out with our almost limitless supply of wide open spaces.

The Lone Star State has got the best BBQ and plenty of parks for kids to play. We're also fortunate to have a somewhat shielded economy thanks to oilfield and medical work. This means a lot of families and young professionals are moving here.

So, where do folks go when they leave? It's pretty interesting. According to this data, even when they leave they don't usually go too far. Many opt to stay in states touching Texas, while others pack up and head to California.

The website Stacker compiled a list of where people from Texas are moving to most. They did this using data from the U.S. Census Bureau. States are ranked by the number of people that have moved from Texas in 2019.

Texas is a wonderful place to raise a family, that's why my wife and I are doing it. And while there are certainly more people moving Texas cities i.e. Austin, TX and Dallas, TX, than leaving, there are families leaving too.
