There is nothing more irritating then someone who doesn't use their turn signal properly in traffic. It's there to let the other drivers know your intent to switch lanes or that your turning, whether it's into a business, your driveway or even in a designated turn lane.

In fact, it's the law and you can be issued a ticket for not using it.

Now we get word that a member of the Texas legislature, Harris county legislator Sam Harless, has introduced House Bill 2717 that would make use your turn signal optional according to statesman.com.

Here is the actual turn signal law for Texas:

An operator intending to turn a vehicle left or right shall signal continuously for not less than the last 100 feet of movement of the vehicle before the turn.

Here is Representative Harless' bill explanation of his bill:

An operator intending to turn a vehicle left or right from a lane that is not marked as requiring a turn in the direction of the intended turn shall signal continuously for not less than the last 100 feet of movement of the vehicle before the turn.

So, unless someone is turning into a designated turn lane, they don't have to use their signal. Mr. Harless, do you not realize how dangerous this is? The turn signal is there to protect the other drivers on the road. Why are you introducing this bill?

Oh. The article suggests his wife got a ticket for failing to use a turn signal. Now we get it.

But, here's the head scratcher, Representative Harless doesn't even fully back his own bill. He told the Statesman, "I’m OK if it doesn’t go. It’s not something I’m adamant about. My concern is it’s going to cause confusion for people, and that’s what I told (the constituent). I’m not that sold on the bill at all. It’s not a life-and-death issue to me."

This is why I hate government and anyone who constantly wants to argue about politics. Because of idiotic things like this.

And use your turn signal, it's not that hard and it even turns itself off once your done with it.
