Have Texas Walmart’s Started to Close Their Self-Checkout’s?

A video recently posted to TikTok shows a Walmart with no self checkout lanes open.  This has been an a hot topic lately considering there are so many videos of people ringing things up incorrectly. For example, people are scanning small items and walking out the stores with TVs. It is not sure, if this is happening in Texas yet. Let us know. NEW CHECKOUT TECHNOLOGY FOR SAMS AND WALMART:

To some, having your receipt checked on your way out is an inconvenience, and Sam's Club's and Walmart's have taken notice.  Sam's Club and Walmart are rolling out their latest technology that will resolve a key member concern: waiting in line for receipt verification to exit the club. The new technology will be the first of its kind.

It's artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision technology to eliminate queuing at the club’s exit area. The move to use digital solutions to drive a better member experience builds on Sam’s Club’s existing technologies, such as Scan & Go™, to provide members with a more convenient shopping experience and differentiate Sam’s Club as a segment innovator.

This program is currently being piloted at 10 Sam's Club locations across the US.  Early reactions show that members are benefiting from the new technology.  The company said it will continue iterating and enhancing the technology through early 2024, intending to rapidly expand it to its nearly 600 clubs by the end of the year. Texas Man Leaves Hungry Kids Locked in Car While Bar Hopping

Some humans are just not supposed to be parents!  A 25-year-old El Paso man was arrested for allegedly leaving his kids locked inside his car while he went bar hopping.  According to KFOXTV, Fabio Aaron Michael was arrested and charged with abandoning children with intent to return. Police say that he left a two and a six-year-old locked inside the car for more than an hour. Many witnesses called the police to report children in a locked car, honking the horn.   When fire crews arrived, they rescued the children who reported being hungry while being locked in the car.

According to police documents, Minchala told them he was aware the kids were in the vehicle and planned to leave the bar soon. Police described Minchala as slurring his words, smelling like alcohol, and looking like he was having a hard time maintaining his balance. Minchaca has been kicked out of these establishments for being 'overly intoxicated' and bothering other customers.

It seems that the subject of tipping has become a super hot topic lately. Everybody and every device is asking for a tip. DoorDash has now addressed possible non-tippers with this warning before the order is placed: "Orders with no tip might take longer to get delivered - do you wish to continue?"
