Looking at the East Texas events calendar, there is no shortage of events happening this weekend. There are plenty of activities for you and the family to be a part of.

As the temperatures heat up to the mid-80s Saturday you might need to cool off and you can do it at one of the splash pads that are opening up Saturday at four Tyler area city parks.

Kilgore Boomtown Bash

Get ready for the ultimate family fun at Boomtown Bash! Lace-up for the Fueling Fitness 5K and Fun Run, where fitness meets fun. Experience the excitement of Touch-A-Truck, shop ’til you drop with our amazing vendors, tantalize your taste buds with delicious food, and let the kids bounce away in our bounce houses. Plus, dance the day away with our live DJ spinning tunes till 2:00 pm. There is a registration fee to participate in the 5K and fun run.

 

Urban Kids Fishing Derby Texas

The free Urban Kids Fishing Derby Texas event will be held at Woldert Park, 701 W 32nd St, Tyler. The event is for ages 4-16 with parents from 8 am-12 pm. Bring your pole, bucket, and chair. There will be food and Biggest Fish is $100.00. Register in advance for the event, space is limited.

 

Challenge Air Tyler Fly Day Event

Challenge Air was created to change the perception of children with special needs through the gift flight. By eliminating the belief that they are limited, the children can grow to their full potential. They are given the opportunity to find courage within themselves and build in areas where they lack self-esteem. Challenge Air for Kids & Friends provides an unforgettable growing experience that opens the door to possibilities while allowing the children to see if they can fly a plane they can do anything. Registration is required and only open to East Texas residents.

Tyler Parks and Recreation are welcoming families out to splash around on the city's splash pads. Splash pads will be active from 9a-9a daily through early fall. This is opening weekend for all the fun. Splash pads are located in the following Tyler City Parks:

Arp Strawberry Festival

The Annual Arp Strawberry Festival will be a 2-day event this year. Saturday, April 27th from 9a-5p & Sunday, April 28th 1p-5p. This year our community will have been named "Arp" for 125 years! We have live music, train rides, balloon artists and face painting, an ax trailer, a mechanical bull, food trucks, and many vendors. This event will be one you don't want to miss!! ACE will recognize all Arp High School Seniors and Announce our Scholarship Recipients. Golf carts will valet guests to and from the festival grounds.
