Released on Bond, Texas Man Stabs Girlfriend Hours Later at Winstar Casino
An Amarillo man was the target of an Oklahoma county's manhunt after authorities say he fled the scene of a brutal assault in Love County.
On July 31, a 911 call reported a stabbing had taken place at the Winstar Casino Hotel. The caller reported that an intoxicated male had stabbed a female several times and fled.
The woman was transported to an area hospital and Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police began investigating the scene. The Love County Sheriff's Office was requested to assist in the search for a suspect with the use of a drone with thermal capabilities.
In a social media post, Sheriff Cumberledge of Love county explained that the drone was able to pinpoint the location of the suspect in a wooded area and Lighthorse Police were able to safely take the individual into custody with the help of a K9 unit.
The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Chad Dewayne Gollihugh of Amarillo, Texas.
Gollihugh was booked into the Love County Justice Center on two counts of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and one count of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Gollihugh had been released from the same facility earlier that day on bond after spending two weeks in custody for similar charges involving the same victim.
According to an information filed with the Love county district clerk, charges were filed against Gollihugh in mid-July for a brutal assault carried out on his girlfriend.
The court records state that the incident involved "pinning her arms behind her" and then hitting the victim on the head, throwing her to the ground, "shoving chocolate up her nose and throwing her across the room"
Court documents obtained by Townsquare Media describe how on the evening of July 31, Gollihugh allegedly stabbed the victim "multiple times with force and violence". He is also charged for choking the victim with his hands along with "placing a hotel cord around her neck". An additional count charges him with violation of a protective order that was served on him June 30, 2024.
In a court hearing on August 2, the State presented evidence of Gollihugh's previous convictions.
In 2016, Gollihugh was convicted of violating a protective order as well as inflicting corporal injury on a spouse in Riverside, California. Then, in 2020, he was convicted of assault on a family or household member with previous convictions in Galveston, Texas.
A judge granted the State's request to deny bond.
Jail records show that Gollihugh has been arrested 27 times for various offenses in Randall County alone. He is a long-time Amarillo resident and attended Tascosa High School
He remains in Love County Justice Center pending further legal action by the State of Oklahoma.
