Should Texas Embrace the Future of Driverless Rideshares like California and Arizona have? Waymo is a new share-ride car that you have to see to believe!

On my most recent vacation to San Francisco I was finally able to test out the Driverless Waymo cars that I had originally seen a few months ago when I was visiting Phoenix, AZ and let me say, I was OBSESSED!

What Is Waymo and Is it safe?!

"We’re on a mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Making it safer, more accessible, and more sustainable to get around — without the need for anyone in the driver’s seat."

Waymo is a driverless, share-ride car that feels like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. Picture this: no driver up front, just you, your destination, soothing music, and a super smooth ride around the city.

Waymo’s sensors and AI take the wheel, navigating traffic and even picking the best routes like a pro! At first, it was surreal to watch the car handle it all, but within minutes, I was sold.

Waymo started as a Google project in 2009 and became its own company under Alphabet, Google’s parent company, in 2016.

Now, Waymo’s tech allows it to scan surroundings, avoid hazards, and handle complex road situations, all while keeping passengers safe.

Currently, these futuristic rides are available only in California and Phoenix, giving those areas a head start in the driverless world.

For now, it’s a tech-forward treat that only a few cities get to enjoy — and honestly, isn’t it time for Texas to join in?

I’m sure El Paso wouldn't be the first Texas city that would be a testing city for the driverless car, but imagine hopping into a Waymo after a night out in Austin or skipping traffic in Houston while chilling in the backseat.

Of course, there are skeptics. And although I did come into some not so positive issues with a driverless car, my overall experience was a postive one!

San Francisco and Phoenix are the only cities that have these Waymo One cars, but according to their website, Waymo One will soon be heading to the streets of Los Angeles and Austin, TX!
