Six Flags Over Texas: New Cashless And Chaperone Policies
(Arlington, Texas) Cash was king up until a few years ago. Now it seems it's getting harder and harder to pay with cash. Many businesses prefer going cashless.
Six Flags Over Texas is the latest brand to go cashless
If you plan on heading to the Thrill Capital Of Texas this summer just know the park is now 100% cashless. Guests must use some form of credit, debit, or prepaid card to pay for anything in the park, including:
- admission
- parking toll booths
- restaurants
- merchandise and shops
- games
- additional attractions
What if you only have cash, what then?
Six Flags Over Texas has thought of it all, if you have cash you can convert it to a prepaid debit card. Think of it as a reverse ATM. These machines will be located at select areas of the park and if you don't spend it all, you can take it with you and spend anywhere else.

I follow several Six Flags fan pages on social media and it looks like it is going to be a pretty busy season this year judging from the lines that were shown from spring break.
Six Flags Over Texas will periodically enforce the chaperone policy
Six Flags theme parks first enacted a chaperone policy at many of its parks during their Fright Fest promotion in the fall.
Six Flags announced the policy would be enacted and in effect beginning March 22, 2025. The park is meant to be a family-friendly environment and now unattended children 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older.

The park created this policy because, as it states on its policy page on the website,
A safe, family-friendly atmosphere of Six Flags Over Texas is the type of experience our guests expect and deserve. Over the past few years, there have been increasing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior at amusement parks and other major entertainment venues. This policy is being put in place to ensure that all guests have the best time ever and leave happy and eager to visit again.
This policy goes into effect at 4 p.m. central time and the chaperone must remain with those 15 and younger throughout the entire stay at Six Flags.
When is Six Flags Over Texas open?
Six Flags is currently open on the weekend with select Fridays through May. The park will open for summer operation, 7 days a week, beginning Thursday, May 22nd.
