The venue dates back to the 1890’s, Schroeder Hall, and is the second-oldest dance hall in Texas. It's a place where many famous country singers cut their teeth including: Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Ronnie Milsap, Roy Clark, Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels Band, Tammy Wynette, Ray Price and many, many more...
Although the legendary Ray Price has passed away, fans and friends alike will continue to fondly remember him and the impact he made on country music. Fellow crooner Merle Haggard remembers Price as "the first outlaw."
It's with a heavy heart that I have to report that country legend and East Texas native Ray Price has passed away. Ray, who was known for having one of the greatest voices in country music, was 87 years old.
This past Saturday, KNUE welcomed Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart and Chris Cagle in concert at The Oil Palace. For those of you who attended the show, I don't have to tell you how great it was.
