Spring severe weather season is upon us and this afternoon East Texas could be looking at a line of severe thunderstorms that'll move through bringing with it high winds, large hail and the possibility of tornadoes.

A cold front is expected to move through East Texas this afternoon bringing with is a chance for thunderstorms and strong winds.

UPDATE 8:10pm Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Cherokee County until 9:15pm

Update 1:30 p.m. The National Weather Service says the threat for large hail and tornadoes is now less than it looked yesterday, but is still not gone completely. It appears now the greatest threat is going to be from winds in excess of 70 mph.

The northern half of East Texas is under a slight risk of severe weather today. Isolated thunderstorms with the possibility of very large hail could develop later this afternoon. After sunset this evening a strong storm system will move through East Texas and along with it, the possibility of strong to severe showers and thunderstorms.
