The superhero flick, which impressed most critics with its action-packed storyline and breakout performance by star Chris Hemsworth, took in an impressive $66 million, leaving the rest of the competition in the dust. Globally, the film has already grossed $242 million, according to Variety.

According to Rotten Tomatoes.com, 'Thor' the movie is a hit. 'Thor' opened Friday and stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and heart throb Chris Hemsworth. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 79% with the audience showing more love with an 84%. 'Thor' spans the Marvel University from present day Earth to the mystical realm Asgard.
