HOUSTON — Retail gasoline prices have jumped another 7 cents in the state , the ninth straight week with an increase.

A recent Triple A Texas price survey says the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.52. The state average is 9 cents below the national average.

The most expensive gasoline in Texas is in the Dallas-Fort Worth area at $3.58. The least expensive is in Abilene at $3.37.

 

TJC Seeking $25 Million Bond

Smith County voters will decide on a $25 million for Tyler Jr. College.

The proposal to put the bond on the May 12 ballot was approved Thursday by the TJC Board of trustees.

If approved the bond money will provide funding for a new state of the art nursing and health science center on the college’s main campus.

 

Hospital Robbery Suspect Charged Again

The man suspected of attacking two women outside a Tyler hospital is now charged with aggravated assault after a second warrant was issued late Thursday.

Royce D. Allen, of Tyler, was arrested Wednesday on for aggravated robbery and is accused of robbing and attacking the women outside ETMC  on two separate occasions within the past month.

Allen is being held on bonds totaling more than 600 thousand dollars.

 

 

East Texas Man Busted for Selling Marijuana in Dallas

VAN ZANDT CO. -- A  house that has been under surveillance  in Van Zandt County has led federal and state authorities to the arrest of a Callender Lake man.

Authorities in Van Zandt County arrested Justin Paul Brown at a location on Pine Ridge road. Brown has been tied to the selling of marijuana to several houses in the Dallas area.

Officers found large amounts of hydroponic marijuana at his home. Brown is in federal custody.

 

Crude Oil Tank Explodes at Biodiesel Plant

GALVESTON — Firefighters have extinguished a fire sparked when a crude oil tank exploded at a biodiesel plant in Galveston.

Galveston Battalion Chief Thomas Winn says investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire, reported around 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the waterfront plant in the island city.

Winn says the fire was put out around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

City spokeswoman Alicia Cahill says one worker was treated for smoke inhalation.
