Single Dad Who Walks 11 Miles to Work Receives a New Car From Co-Workers

This is a beautiful story with an important message: when you're determined to not let your circumstances define your outcome, good things will come your way.

WDSU News 6 reported about a young man by the name of Trenton Lewis. Trenton is 21 years old, has a 14-month-old daughter and is employed at UPS in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Everyday Trenton would get up every morning and walk 11 miles to work to be on time for his 4 am shift at UPS. He had no transportation getting to and from work except for his feet and his determination to provide for his daughter.  Trenton tried to keep this situation from his co-workers, but one person found out about Trenton walking to work every morning and decided to do something about it.

Patricia Bryant, also known as “Mama Pat” actually got upset that he didn’t tell anybody he was walking to work. She and her husband worked at UPS for 40 years and they decided to do something about it.

Bryant shared Trenton’s story and received donations from other co-workers - when it was all said and done, they collected almost $2,000 and ultimately presented the young father with a 2006 Saturn Ion.  renton couldn’t believe the kind gesture and thanked his co-workers for their good deed.

Kenneth Bryant said in a statement:

For a young person to decide in their mind 'if I don't have a ride, if I can't get a ride then I'll walk.  If a guy can do that, we can pitch in to help.

The first thing Trenton did in his new ride was take his 14-month-old daughter out to get something to eat. It just goes by the old saying “It does take a village to raise a child.”
