We know crime happens everywhere, but thanks to social media, it can sometimes feel like we hear about every disturbing case happening across Texas. Staying informed is important, but the constant stream of negative stories can also become overwhelming.

So what happens after someone is convicted of a serious or violent crime in Texas? Where do they go to serve their sentence?

If you’re in jail it’s normally not a very long stay, prison is for long term sentences. Prison can also be used for more serious crimes or inmates under state or federal authority. Although I don’t believe either sound like much fun, I would avoid both locations.
