Frighting Eel Washed Up on Texas Coast During Hurricane Harvey
Does this eel washed up on Texas shores not look straight out of an alien movie?
Hurricane Harvey caused havoc in Houston and it's surrounding areas. But a storm as strong as Harvey can also cause some unusual phenomena.
For instance, this creature was captured on Twitter by user Preeti Desai. It was on a beach in Texas City.
She found some help from Dr. Kenneth Tighe, a biologist and eel specialist according to bbc.com. He believes it is either a fangtooth snake-eel, garden eel or conger eel. Dr. Tighe said that, "all three of these species occur off Texas and have large fang-like teeth".
Scary.
If I'm not mistaken, and I'm no biologist or sea life expert, but these reside in the deepest part of the ocean. You shouldn't find them in the shallow areas of the beach.
Powerful storms, like Hurricane Harvey, have been known to suck up ocean life that we normally wouldn't see and deposit it on land.
