You don't need anyone telling you why George Strait was honored as 'Texan of the Year' of 2018 but we're going to do it anyway.

According to KHOU, the King of Country was recognized for his efforts to aid victims of Hurricane Harvey - one of the most devastating natural disasters to hit Texas in recent memory. One of the most notable contributions out of his many included the Hand in Hand Benefit concert for hurricane relief. KSAT reports that Strait raised over $50 million for Hurricane Harvey victims.

The King will be presented with the award on March 22, 2018. Doug Miller, Conference Chair of the Texas Legislative Conference that bestowed the award on Strait told KHOU:

No one has done more than George Strait to raise awareness and funds for the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. He put his well-earned reputation on the line and asked not only his fellow Texans to step up, but all Americans. And they have.
