Help Bullard Girl Reach Others — Share This EllenTube Video!
BreAnn Benson is a Bullard 9-year-old working to make a big difference. When she was 7 years old, experts diagnosed her with a rare Pott's Puffy tumor in her forehead. She spent almost a month in the hospital and endured multiple surgeries.
Friends, family members and supporters who visited her at Children's in Dallas flooded her with teddy bears. The stuffed animals lifted her spirits and gave her something to hold onto during a time filled with fear and pain.
Even after she went home the teddy bears were evidence of support during a difficult situation. However, some time later BreAnn's mom got sick. She noticed her mother didn't receive the same treatment so she started Bre's Bears.
Delivering Love at Trinity Mother Francis
BreAnn began collecting teddy bears and delivering them to patients at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Francis in Tyler. She took 99 bears and delivered them one at a time, giving patients a hug and wishing them Merry Christmas during the holiday season. She also delivered bears to the hospital Oncology wing.
Her mother, Jeri Ann, says Oncology nurses cried because they weren't used to seeing anyone put that kind of effort into giving stuffed animals to adults. BreAnn's giving caught talk show host Ellen DeGeneres' attention, and the show shared BreAnn's story on Ellen's video page as part of her One Million Acts of Good Campaign.
