(KNUE-FM) There is an East Texas cold case that has been solved seven years after the tragic event took place. According to KETK, there were unreleased details which eventually led investigators to a confession from the suspect regarding the murder of a father and daughter in Henderson County, Texas.

The suspect in the case is 25-year-old Lance Kaeden Rains and he was taken into custody after confessing to authorities that he murdered 17-year-old Beverly McBride and her father 47-year-old Gabriel McBride.

What Happened in the Chandler, Texas Murders

In the original arrest documents, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence in Chandler, Texas, where they discovered the bodies of the two victims and noticed that both of them had been shot with a firearm multiple times.

How New Evidence Cracked the Case

The investigators did not have much to work from on this case until June 2, 2024 when a friend of the suspect reported details about the case that were not known to the public. The friend went on to say that during the murders that Beverly was sitting on the couch and Rains was on a chair next to her.

The friend also reported to police a description of the firearm that was used in the murders which was a revolver that belonged to the suspect’s grandparents.

Investigators spoke with the suspect’s grandmother who confirmed the revolver was gifted as a birthday present in 2021. Lab reports confirmed that the revolver was used in the murders.

The suspect and victims were neighbors and it’s believed that the suspect had bought marijuana from Gabriel McBride in the past. There is suspicion that the suspect may have been trying to rob the victims before the murders took place.

What Charges the Suspect Is Facing

Rains is now charged with capital murder of multiple persons and is currently in the Henderson County Jail on a $2 million bond. The case is expected to be seen by a grand jury in the next 90 days.
