Most murder cases across Texas are solved by local authorities or with help from state or federal authorities. But that isn't always the case. Sadly there are cases that go unsolved and eventually become cold cases. The good news is that there are agencies around the state who work on these hard to solve cases.

The Texas Rangers keep a website where they normally list the top 12 cold case investigations. However, right now they have 13 cases on listed on the Texas Department of Public Safety website. The cases are from all over the State of Texas and go back to 1979. The last case added to the site is that of Marianne Wilkins of Tarrant County. She was murdered in 2007 when she answered her door and was shot multiple times according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A cold case from here in Lubbock County is featured by the Texas Rangers. The case is about the murder of Veronica Taylor who was 13 in 1987 when her body was found in a snow covered field next to F.M. 1729 according to the Texas Department of Public Safety website.

On the morning of Thursday, 03-26-1987, the body of 13 year old Veronica Taylor was discovered in a snow covered field adjacent to F.M. 1729, located in eastern Lubbock County, Texas. Veronica had suffered blunt force trauma. Veronica was last seen departing a relative's apartment the previous evening. Veronica was a 6th Grade student at Murfee Elementary in Lubbock, Texas.

Below is a gallery of the top cold case investigations from the Texas Rangers. Look through them and if you know anything about any of the cases, Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000. All tips are anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). You can also submit tips online.
