Little Big Town and Luke Bryan have teamed up for a promotional spot for the 2016 CMA Awards. Together, the five singers cover snippets of Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" and Alabama's "Mountain Music."

Standing back to back with Bryan underneath a single spotlight, LBT sing the chorus of "On the Road Again" before Bryan chimes in with the chorus of "Mountain Music." Little Big Town harmonize with Bryan on the song's "hey, hey, hey" and a line of Nelson's hit as the words “Then. Now. Forever Country.” appear on the screen — a nod to the celebratory theme that the CMAs have adopted for 2016.

LBT and Bryan's promo clip is similar in feel to another CMA Awards promo that features Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood singing a medley of John Denver‘s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and Dolly Parton‘s “I Will Always Love You," as well as one in which Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert team up for a mashup of Nelson's “Always on My Mind” and Patsy Cline‘s “Crazy.” All three ads are in keeping with the CMA's decision to play up the nostalgia that comes with the awards show's 50th anniversary.

“I do know there’s going to be a lot of heritage artists, so you’re going to see a lot fewer current singles being pushed,” shares songwriter and "Forever Country" producer Shane McAnally. “[CMA Awards Executive Producer] Robert Deaton sat down with managers and producers and said, ‘This year, we are going to honor the history of country music,’ so everybody has kind of taken their respective hats off of trying to promote something that’s happening right now.

“That doesn’t mean there won’t be some of that,” McAnally adds, “but I think we’re going to definitely see a lot of throwback, and I’m really excited about that.”

The 2016 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on ABC on Nov. 2 at 8PM ET.
