(KNUE-FM) There is an East Texas man that will be spending the next 15 years of his life in prison after he was found with multiple files of child pornography inside his home in Murchison earlier this year.

According to KETK, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on December 18, 2024 regarding a tip they received from the social media platform Snapchat.

How Snapchat Helped Catch the Suspect

On September 22, 2024, Snapchat flagged the incident as online enticement of a child for sexual purposes. The child victim in the incident reported everything to Snapchat regarding someone trying to exploit them with child pornography of them.

An investigator was assigned to the case who was able to review the evidence including 12 files that were deemed as child pornography. Law enforcement was then able to locate an address for the suspect which ended up being in Murchison.

What Police Found During the Search

On January 22, 2025 law enforcement searched the home of the suspect, 25-year-old, Dustyn Thomas Loyd. During the search, law enforcement examined his phone which matched some of the files in the tip that came from Snapchat.

Details About the Child Exploitation Charges

When questioned by law enforcement, Loyd admitted to soliciting the victim then threatening them.

Loyd has now been convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison for his four counts of possession of child pornography. Part of his conviction includes having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
