Smith County fire officials are investigating a fire they are calling "suspicious" at a house belonging to Johnny Manziel's grandfather.

The house, on Slack Road near Lake Tyler, caught fire about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 7) morning, according to a report by KLTV. The two-story house, valued at more than $400,000, completely collapsed about 2 a.m.

Smith County Fire Marshall Jay Brooks told KLTV the house belongs to Paul Manziel, the grandfather of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, a Tyler native who won the Heisman Trophy at Texas A&M.

Brooks told the TV station the fire was deemed suspicious, and officials are dispatching K-9 units to the house to determine if any accelerants were used to start the fire.

KLTV reported the house had been unoccupied for two days before it caught fire.
