A wave of anti-abortion bills has been sweeping through the Texas Senate as of late and many small Texas towns are seeking to become "sanctuary cities for the unborn."
The ban was blocked by a federal court. Ken Paxton appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the ruling was to uphold the ban as of Tuesday, March 31.
A federal appeals court in New Orleans ruled that Texas can enforce a controversial abortion law requiring mothers to receive a sonogram while opponents continue to challenge it in court, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry responded to the news today.
