Start collecting those phone books and ask your friends if they have any old ones laying around - it could mean a free fun day at your local zoo.

My favorite part of the African Outlook is a scene of the lions overlooking the entire exhibit of animals in their habitats.

East Texas is known for its pine trees, its azaleas and roses, beyond the shear beauty of the East Texas landscape, there are many destinations within East Texas that qualify as 'must see'! These must see places aren't only for vacationers visiting our beautiful part of the great state of Texas, these places are also for locals too!

If you don't mind the drive, one big Texas zoo is letting teachers in free for the rest of the month, and friends that go along can get big discounts too.  Road trip!

The zoo in Lufkin just added a rare baby animal.  And in Tyler, Caldwell Zoo is making a lot of progress and should be finished this spring. Our zoos in East Texas may not be the biggest in Texas, but they're unique, interesting, and they keep on growing.

Leo the African lion, who graced the grounds at Tyler's Caldwell Zoo for nearly 22 years, has died.

Thanks to East Texans, the lion cubs that were born at Caldwell Zoo in Tyler in January now have names!

Caldwell Zoo's lion pride increased in size Jan. 22 after their African lion, Njeri, gave birth to five cubs at the zoo. Since then, zoo staff have been caring for the little ones and have been careful as not to disturb them and are letting mom take care of them.

Have you guys been to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler lately?  My family made it to the zoo recently and I wondered why it had been so long since we've visited. The zoo first started in the late 1940s with less than 20 animals on 4 acres. Now the zoo is home to almost 2,000 animals sitting on 75 acres.
