Round three of the high school football playoffs happened last weekend and quite a few East Texas teams survived and are moving one step closer to playing in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington for the state titles. Currently East Texas has 12 teams still in the playoffs.

WOAI radio is reporting a story today about a political activist group here in Texas that is trying to convince voters to put more Democrats in the Legislature in order to save funding for high school football.

The Texas University Scholastic League released its new classifications for high school football and basketball this morning, and there are some incredible changes for area schools. The road to the championship games continue for several East Texas high school football teams.  On that road are John Tyler, Chapel Hill and Tatum and they’ll be playing again Friday night.  Brook Hill claimed their title this past weekend against Austin Regents for the first time in 3 years.

Round 4 in the high school football playoffs is coming up tomorrow and Saturday and there are still quite a few East Texas teams going for that championship trophy.  Among them are John Tyler, Kilgore, Henderson, Brook Hill and many others.

Last week I shared with you my plight, of having to make, yes make, a homecoming mum garter for Chloe's homecoming date. Chloe informed me of this too late to order a mum from a florist, Hobby Lobby or Micheal's. Like I explained last week, I am not what you would call  'crafty' in any way, so this was going to be torture!

There are only a couple weeks left in this incredible 2011 football season. It's getting down to the nitty gritty and teams are pushing it to make it into the playoffs. This is the time when you will see the best games of the season as each team tries to prove themselves and take number one in their district. We turn to the Longview News Journal for this weeks match ups.

It's Homecoming time in East Texas and that means football games, dances and mums. If you haven't ordered your Homecoming mums by now, it's too late -- you must make your own.
