Most people in the state of Texas are talking about how the population just seems to keep on growing. Especially when it comes to people from California making the move to Texas. But it’s not just from one state, there are people moving to Texas from all over the country for a variety of reasons. But it’s interesting to think that not all parts of Texas are growing, there are some areas that are shrinking in population.

It seems like since COVID hit a few years ago, the populations in the bigger Texas cities like Dallas, Houston, or Austin just continue to grow. But the smaller more rural areas seem to have a little less desire for people moving to Texas. There are some that want the privacy of the smaller towns, but most want to have access to the big city and all the amenities that come with it.

Why Are These Texas Counties Shrinking?

There is a wide variety of reasons as to why these areas are seeing a population decrease. It could be about job opportunities unavailable in the more rural areas of Texas. It could also have to do with the terrain or weather conditions in certain areas. School or education opportunities are just a few other reasons as to why these areas might not be growing as fast as other parts of Texas.
