Seriously. The name Hashtag is on the list of baby name possibilities in 2013, according to one website.

I did grow up in Nebraska with a boy named Tag. Perhaps Tag's parents were just ahead of the curve, and knew that someday Twitter would keep conversations going with that # symbol, and the hashtag would reach new heights in popularity. They just decided to shorten it.

What about Android? Would you give your child that name?

The social baby-naming website Belly Ballot, gathers information on what other parents are naming their children all over the world. In a new poll of 1,000 parents, Belly Ballot found that tech-inspired names like Kindle, Hashtag, Tweet and Android are all possibilities in 2013.

Names with a little history like Hannah and Madeline have been gaining in popularity over the last few years, but there are predictions now that other names with history but not necessarily popularity may be coming back. Names like Albert, Bertha, Charles, Eleanor, Florence, Frank, and Nellie could rise in popularity in 2013. (We could thank Nelly Furtado and Nelly for the resurrection of that last one.)

Last names becoming first names may be all the rage in 2013 too. Names like Copeland, Drake, Fletcher, Grant, Hayes, Kennedy and Sutton might become first names. If Sutton has a last name like Chris, that might get confusing.

The race is on to have the first babies of 2013. Good luck today Moms-to-be! May you have a quick and painless labor and delivery, and have that baby at 12:00:01 on January 1. And may you not name your child Auld Lang Syne.
