East Texas Waitress Receives Second College Surprise

Last month, we passed along a story of Gun Barrel City waitress Alesha Palmer who received a $1,000 tip from a patron to go towards college.

Well now, according to KLTV, Tyler Junior College has matched that $1,000 gift.

TJC President Dr. Mike Metke used funds from the President's Circle Fund and gave $1,000 to to Alesha.

“Our president uses that money at his discretion to address priorities or to give scholarships to deserving students,” Executive Director of Instructional Enhancement for the TJC Foundation Mitch Andrews told KLTV.

“It’s such a blessing! It’s just crazy, it’s blessing after blessing. God can do wonderful things,” Alesha Palmer said.

She will use the money for books, tuition and living expenses.

Palmer will graduate from Kemp High School May 31.
