FedEx Explores SameDay Robot Deliveries

New technology could put your FedEx package in your hands in via a machine.

Introduced on Wednesday, Feb. 27, the FedEx SameDay Bot could change the world of deliveries forever. Can you imagine a robot delivering your groceries, your lunch, or well anything?!? It will happen sooner than we think.

Memphis, the hometown of FedEx, will explore the idea first. Currently the bots are pending final approval from the city. Soon you could see mini-robots moving about Memphis!

DEKA Development & Research Corp developed the 200 pound robot which would be able to deliver to customers within close proximity to a FedEx store. They've brought in some big partners to explore the idea with early. AutoZone, Lowe's, Pizza Hut, Target, Walgreens and Walmart are willing to give it a try.

1900 cities currently offer same-day delivery service with FedEx employees. It's unclear at this point, if the new bot could be replacing jobs.
