East Texans Can Get Free Tax Help Through Goodwill
(KNUE-FM) Some people in Texas have already done their taxes for last year, and that refund is already gone. Others still have it on the to-do list. But there is good news for those who need help filing their taxes as Goodwill East Texas is offering free tax prep for eligible residents.
Free Tax Help Available for East Texas Residents
According to CBS 19, Goodwill Industries of East Texas partners with the IRS to offer free tax preparation for low-income residents. This service provides flexible options and helps ensure taxes are filed accurately.
The program is designed to help low-income individuals and families file their taxes and claim refunds and tax credits they may not even realize they qualify for.
While many people don’t love filing taxes, they are a necessity. You hear all the time about people who are sent to prison for tax evasion; some are even celebrities with millions of dollars. No matter who you are or how much money you have, filing your taxes is not something to mess with.
In fact, I know of one person who attempted to buy a house and was denied because they forgot or didn’t file one tax return from around five years ago. Just know that filing your taxes is important and serious, don’t put it off, or assume you don’t need to file.
