Geraldo Rivera Blames Florida Teen’s Death on the Hoodie He Wore
First it was the Al Capone secret vault debacle of '86. Then it was revealing future US troop movements in Iraq on live television back in 2003. The latter of which led to his expulsion from Iraq by the Commander of the 101st Airborne. Now the mustached Fox News commentator and personality Geraldo Rivera has done it again! He's claiming "the hoodie was as much to blame for Trayvon Martin’s death as the shooter".
If you haven't heard a Florida teen was pursued through a neighborhood and gunned down by a member of the neighborhood watch. Even after a police operator told him not to pursue him. And to date no charges have been filed against the man who committed the murder.
Here's a few quotes from Rivera on the issue:
1. I believe that George Zimmerman, the overzealous neighborhood watch captain, should be investigated to the fullest extent of the law, and if he is criminally liable he should be prosecuted. But I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies
2.You have to recognize that this whole stylizing yourself as a gangsta, you’re going to be a gangsta-wannabe, well people are going to perceive you as a menace.
One of my favorite tweets was from @amy_pfister, she tweeted:
How in the world will we keep Mark Zuckerberg and Justin Beiber safe?
Rivera, who is Latino, went on to say that black and Latino kids shouldn't wear hoodies because they only invite trouble. Even before he said these things, I'd often wonder why Geraldo still had a job on television, hopefully this will take care of that. Read more here.
