Have you filed your taxes for 2015 yet? If not, please don't forget the newly imposed pet tax. You may be liable for Fido's fiduciary well being as well as your own! In 2015 some 24 million Americans will be required to file their pets as a taxable luxury.

All this stems from a bill signed into law in October of last year, when Congressman William J.T. Lepper (D)  introduced the notion to Congress. The bill narrowly scraped by in the House, and met the same response in the senate, and ended up passing in a narrow majority. The President signed HB3113 into law on Jan. 8, 2015. The bill was first introduced in 2010.

"This is a way to make sure animals in the U.S. are taxed for the strain they put on our economy," Congressman Lepper stated in an interview with Washington Daily. He went on to state, "The impact pets make on our food sources, landfills, and other service related industries has been paid for by the taxpayers for too long, its time to make sure the people who own the pets, are paying for them."

The Congressman was unavailable for comment when called by KNUE this morning.

By the way, Happy April Fool's Day. :)
