Police Bodycam Video Released of Allen Texas Mall Shooting

On May 6th, 2023, a mass shooter in Texas took the lives of eight innocent people at a mall in north Dallas. Now police have released bodycam footage of the intense shootout that also claimed the life of the suspect.

Mauricio Martinez Garcia opened fire with an AR-15 into a crowd of people at a shopping center in Allen, Texas. Garcia ended up killing eight people including a 3-year-old boy before police were able to end the assault by killing him. Several others were also injured in the shooting.

A grand jury declined to indict the officer involved in the shooting and then released the bodycam video to the public.

In the footage below, you'll see an officer talking to a woman with her children as shots can be heard ringing out. The officer calls dispatch to report that he thinks "shots have been fired".

The video (courtesy of Global Police Footage) then cuts to the officer tactfully working his way toward the shooter as several shots can still be heard. Eventually, the officer spots the shooter, draws his firearm and proceeds to take out the suspect.

Hundreds of journal entries written by the shooter were discovered and contained details about his hate for women, and other races with demented rants.

The video is a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk in our society and the dedication and sacrifices these officers make to keep us safe. Well done, officers.
