Matthew Luckhurst, formerly of the San Antonio Police Department, was accused of trying to trick a homeless person into eating a sandwich containing dog feces, according to SA Current.

The incident came to light, according to SAPD officials, because Luckhurst had bragged to a fellow officer "that he had picked up some feces, placed it in a slice of bread, and put it in a Styrofoam container" next to an unknown homeless man.

The other officer instructed Luckhurst, a five-year veteran of the force, to retrieve the sandwich. It is unknown if Luckhurst actually prevented the man from touching it or eating it.

Another officer reported the incident, however, the SAPD decision to fire Luckhearst failed after an arbiter sided with Luckhearst, leading to him being reinstated to the force.

The arbitrator, "ruled the department failed to discipline him within 180 days of the incident as required under local government code."

In case you were wondering if this was a one-off poor decision, Luckhurst also faced disciplinary action for another feces-related incident, according to Ken5 News:

In a separate incident wiping brown feces-like substances on a toilet in the only female restroom at bike patrol in 2016.

He also failed to flush after defecating in the women's restroom. This incident occurred one month after the feces sandwich situation. The arbiter did not side with Luckhearst and he was permanently let go.

Luckhurst has now been hired as a police officer in Benavides, Texas, a very small town between Corpus Christi and Laredo.

When asked if the department knew of their new hire's history, Benavides Police Chief Andre Hines told SACurrent that they did.

"As required by the State of Texas, we have to do a background check," Hines said. "And so when [Luckhurst] was applying for employment here with the city of Benavides, we request all information from these previous agencies that he has worked for."

Luckhurst was also hired by Floresville, Texas after the San Antonio incidents, but was let go when the feces incidents came to light.
