Winter definitely has its grip on East Texas and Deep East Texas for the first part of the week.

An Arctic front moved in over the weekend and gradually dropped our afternoon highs to the mid-30s then dipping our overnight lows into the lower 20s.  When you factor in the northerly wind, the wind chill factors in the morning are in the teens and 20s in the afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to rebound and become closer to normal by the end of the week. Before that happens though, there is another round of winter weather that is going to be impacting the south-central and southern counties in East Texas.

Portions of the area south of I-20 have the chance of seeing flurries and the chance of snow accumulating snow the further south you go.

Much of East Texas is under a 'Cold Weather Advisory' until Tuesday at 9 a.m., while some counties in the southern part of East Texas are under 'Winter Weather Advisories' until 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Many East Texas school districts were closed today (Monday, January 20th) in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day so this cold weather did not affect class schedules, but with the chance of a wintery mix and mainly snow, some school districts have taken precautionary measures and have either delayed or cancelled classes for Tuesday in anticipation of an accumulation of snow.

The following East Texas school districts have altered or cancelled classes for Tuesday:
