If you're like me you've noticed the days are getting a little longer here lately. The sun is coming up a bit earlier and it is much lighter in the evening. That only means one thing...

Daylight Saving Time is returning soon

Remember the old saying "Spring forward, fall back"? Well, that is happening soon, Daylight Saving Time is set to return on Sunday, March 9th at 2 a.m. and we'll be springing forward an hour.

So if you're not fancy enough like me to have a self-adjusting alarm clock, you'll need to go ahead and set that clock ahead one hour when you go to bed Saturday night otherwise you'll be waking up late Sunday and miss early church or even Sunday School.

Unlike Arizona and Hawaii, sometime Sunday morning the rest of the United States will be making the bi-annual adjustments to their wall clocks, microwaves, stoves, coffee makers, and in-vehicle clocks.

Now our internal clocks are going to be messed up for several days as well until we get used to the change but we'll end up enjoying it because it means more light in the evening and you can actually go out and have dinner on a patio and it not get dark so quickly!

After changing that clock, check and change these too:

  • smoke detector batteries - replace them with new ones
  • carbon monoxide monitor batteries - replace them with new ones
  • test home alarm systems - notify monitoring service before you do this though or else the police and fire department could be dispatched to your home
