Fisherman Reels In Huge "Holy Grail" Monster Gar in Texas

Talk about a catch of the day. A huge alligator gar that was recently caught in Texas could be a new world record, a record that has stood for generations according to the Star-Telegram.

Art Weston, a fisherman from Kentucky and experienced gar fisherman, reportedly made the monster catch on Sam Rayburn Lake in Texas. He was assisted by a guide, Kirk Kirkland, who took to Facebook to announce the possible world record.

Kirkland called the catch the "holy grail of the fishing world".

According to the report from the Star-Telegram, Weston reeled in the gar which weighed 283 pounds and was more than 8 feet long. It took Weston nearly 3 hours to bring the fish in.

After documenting everything, the gar was released to swim again.
