Top Thanksgiving Dishes Texans Wish Would Disappear Forever!
Thanksgiving: it’s all about gathering, gratitude…and, of course, traditional food that somehow only shows up once a year. For my Mexican family, Chile Con Queso is what some might consider an unusual dish, but I like to call it “mexican gravy.”
Traditionally, Thanksgiving meals feature roast turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie—a spread inspired by the harvest feasts dating back to the Pilgrims and Indigenous Peoples in the 1600s.
Personally, my favorite Thanksgiving dish is stuffing!! Not just any stuffing though, there’s a specific way my mom makes stuffing and the best part of every Thanksgiving is that she will always make extra so I can have leftover stuffing for days! My son hates it, but I LOVE IT!
Over the years, dishes like green bean casserole (often topped with crispy fried onions) and sweet potato casseroles (with marshmallows, if you're lucky!) found their way onto the menu. But not everyone is on board with these culinary "classics."
Love it or hate it, the holiday brings a unique spread of dishes
But the real question is: Do we really enjoy them all? From the traditional Turkey, to the classic stuffing- Turns out, some classic Thanksgiving staples have people wishing they’d vanish off the dinner table. (Whoever says stuffing.. I will fight you!!)
I asked locals which Thanksgiving dishes they could do without, and here’s what topped the list:
