Kelly Clarkson hosted the Billboard Music Awards for the second year in a row on Wednesday night (May 1). After a kick-off performance from Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie debuting Swift's latest single, "Me!," Clarkson took the stage for her opening monologue.

She began the evening by poking fun at the fact that at the last Academy of Country Music Awards show she attended, security mistook her for a seat filler.

Clarkson took an open seat next to actor Terry Crews, who informed her it was taken. She then moved to Florida Georgia Line's seats, and a security guard came up asked her to move. She even asked former American Idol judge Paula Abdul to vouch for her. Abdul just looked away and ignored her plea. The skit went over well on social media, with fans posting memes of the moment.

Clarkson then performed a medley of nominee's songs from all genres. She began performing Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's "Meant to Be," then segued into Maroon 5's "Girls Like You," Maren Morris, Grey, and Zedd's "The Middle," Bad Bunny and J Balvin's "I Like It," Panic! At the Disco's "High Hopes" and Dan and Shay's "Tequila," among other songs.

Clarkson also performed her original song "Broken & Beautiful" later in the evening. The song is from her latest film, UglyDolls, in which she voices the character of Moxy. Clarkson also offered songs for the film's soundtrack including "Today's the Day" and "Couldn't Be Better," along with "All Dolled Up" and "Unbreakable," both featuring co-star Janelle Monae.
