Just a couple of hours ago, KNUE'S "Gold Rush" host, John Moore, was named the Smith Country Public Information Officer. This is a new position for the Smith Country Sherif'sf Department. John will be joining the department later this month.John, the host of KNUE's Gold Rush show on Saturday mornings, has served as the Public Information Officer for Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics for the past 13 years and previously was Director of Marketing for Stewart Regional Blood Center. For 10 years John was on the KNUE morning show, and before that was a reporter and the sports director for KTBB Radio.

Here's what The Smith County Sheriff's Department had to say about John's hiring:

“When I was campaigning for the office of Sheriff of Smith County, one of my pledges was for this office to do a better job of keeping the news media and the public informed of what was going on in their county,” said Sheriff Larry Smith.

One of the ways that John will be keeping the public informed is by social networking like Facebook and Twitter.

Congratulations to John, KNUE is very proud of the work he does and continues to do for the people of East Texas. Of course, on Saturday mornings John will still be playing the best hits from the '70's, '80's and '90's on the KNUE "Gold Rush" show, so tune in!
