My childhood was filled with lots of sports, I was the youngest of five kids so there were always activities going on or sports to watch. Most of the time it was NFL or some MLB and tons of playing sports in the street with other neighbor kids. While I didn't have a lot of exposure to PBR or the NFR the more I watch these amazing athletes I prefer them over the professional football and baseball players.

These tough cowboys and cowgirls are putting their body and quite frankly their life on the line every time they step into a rodeo arena. Every event is so intense from the barrel racing, steer wrestling, and team roping but my favorite has to be the bull riding. These athletes work and train just as hard if not harder than any NFL or MLB star and deserve more recognition for the work they put in.

Rodeo Athletes Set a Better Example For Kids

While I don't have kids myself if I did I would prefer them looking up to the athletes in the rodeo. They work hard but also stand proud for their country and don't approach the sport with an ego or attitude like so many other professional athletes. They show respect for their sport and fellow athletes, it's refreshing to see as that is lacking in other sports.

You Should Make Going to the Rodeo a Priority

The great thing about the rodeo and the events going on is that it's easy to understand the goal of each event after seeing a few people participate. Don't shy away from going to the rodeo if it's not something you're familiar with. Most likely you'll meet a friend in the stands who will help you further understand the sport, next thing you know you will be hooked.

Yes, most people in East Texas know about the rodeo and have been dozens of times. But for those who want to know more, you're going to love it!
