I absolutely love NFL football. It's the way I was raised, every Sunday my parents would sit me and my three siblings in front of the television and we would watch Roger Staubach throw the " hail Mary." So when I hear something as upsetting as Peyton Manning being released from the Colts, it makes me sad. For months sports fans have speculated that Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning, would be released from the team, and it  looks like that will become reality for Peyton today. FOXSports.com has confirmed that Manning will be released today, ending a 14-year relationship with the Colts franchise.

Peyton was the Colts franchise - leading the 2006 Colts to a Super Bowl XLI victory over Chicago and was named Most Valuable Player for his 247-yard, one-touchdown performance. Manning also helped guide the 2009 Colts to Super Bowl XLIV, but they were defeated by New Orleans.

And that's not all he did- Manning was named the league's MVP four times by Associated Press voters. He has reached 11 Pro Bowls and is the fastest player in NFL history to reach 50,000 passing yards. Manning had never missed an NFL start until last season.

The Colts signed Manning to a five-year, $90 million contract extension last July in hopes that he would finish his playing days in Indianapolis. But Manning, had a neck injury and surgery, that forced him to miss the entire season. The Colts finished with the NFL's worst record at 2-14. That put the franchise in position to draft a kid from Stanford, Andrew Luck,  the most highly touted college quarterback since Manning was the first overall pick in 1998.

FOXSports.com NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay will conduct a joint news conference today in Indianapolis. The tone is intended as a farewell tribute to Manning, whom Irsay has long championed as a close friend as well as Colts star. The news conference will be held at noon ET, according to NFL.com.

Here is the list of phenonenal football icons that got the "What have you done for me lately" speech! In 2002 the Dallas Cowboys (Jerry Jones) released running back Emmitt Smith. Seriously,  Emmitt Smith? Of course who could forget the "Tyler Rose"Earl Campbell, Joe Montana and Warren Moon.

I understand that these athletes get older and can't play at such a high level forever but in my opinion, "You should dance with the one that brung ya!" You can't tell me that their isn't a place in your club to use their talent and experiences. I know - it's all about money.

Good luck to Peyton Manning - I think he would look great in a Dallas Cowboy uniform! Don't you?
